Describe the commercial edge clearly
Strong briefs define who should buy, why now, and what disqualifies the account. Vague market labels create vague lead lists.
- Name the segment, geography, team size, and stack assumptions.
- Describe the buyer role and the operational pain the offer solves.
- State the hard exclusions early so research avoids dead accounts.
Keep the brief operational
A usable brief should help an analyst or system say yes, no, or maybe with confidence. If a requirement cannot be checked from public evidence, rewrite it into something observable.
Use examples to calibrate
Include a handful of ideal accounts and a handful of exclusions. This tightens scoring faster than adding more abstract language.
